Finlayson Arm Craft Ltd.
What’s with the name?
I will explain why we chose the name. It may not make sense to you but it makes sense to us.
Finlayson Arm

Finlayson Arm is a body of salt water on southern Vancouver island. It is at the southern end of Saanich Inlet. It divides the main part of Vancouver Island from the Saanich Peninsula. It has the salmon bearing Goldstream River and its estuary flowing into it. There is a lot of personal and historic significance to the area with a wealth of symbolism that we are able to draw upon for inspiration as we work towards a building our enterprise into a self sustaining entity. Finlayson Arm is where our efforts in the Cowichan Valley and on the Saanich Peninsula meets.
Craft
In British Columbia every registered business needs a descriptive word. It can be an easy or daunting decision as to what you choose. Easy would be if we were plumbers: Finlayson Arm Plumbing for example. However, we are not plumbers and rather than limit ourselves with a descriptive word of what we do we chose to use a word that describes how we do it. Craft.
Ltd.
We are a B.C. Corporation so we had to pick something to designate it. Ltd. seemed to roll off the tongue the best.
